The International Commission on Financing Global Education Opportunity is a global initiative engaging world leaders, policy makers and researchers to develop a renewed investment case and financing pathway for achieving equal educational opportunity for children and young people.
The Commission seeks to target the financing gap and ensure that it is efficiently allocated across and within countries, reaching the most marginalized and disadvantaged children. The Commission brings together research and policy analysis on the actions necessary to increase investment in concrete, relevant learning outcomes with a positive impact on economic and social development. It aims to secure increased, more effective investments and contribute to the mobilization of new partnerships to achieve these aims.
In 2016, the Commission published a report, the Learning Generation, stating that to meet SDG 4, the world needs to increase international financing for education from today’s US$16 billion to US$89 billion per year by 2030.T
